REACH, Regulation 1907/2006/EC
In Europe, on December 18th 2006 the European Parliament and European Council formally adopted Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals, otherwise known as REACH.
There is a transitional period to complete the registration process for existing substances with phased-in deadlines of 2010, 2013, and 2018, depending on the annual amounts imported and the hazard of the substance. To benefit from these phased-in deadlines, EU manufacturers and importers must pre-register existing substances by November 2008. Pre-registration allows continued manufacture and import into the EU prior to the registration deadline.
Aztec Oils supports the objectives of REACH, including protecting human health and the environment. Aztec is aware of the requirements of the REACH regulation. It is the Company's expectation that all Aztec substances manufactured in or imported into the EU by Aztec that require registration will be pre-registered by Aztec or by its up-stream suppliers, thus securing the benefit of Phase-in and continued product supply during the transition period.
Aztec and its customers and suppliers will work as a team in order to satisfy the requirements of REACH. The REACH regulation puts responsibility on users of substances to ensure that the uses of the substance are identified and included in the registration and to provide relevant risk assessment data. Under the regulations Aztec will be updating all Material safety Data Sheets to meet the REACH requirements.
Should you require clarification on any of the above then please contact our REACH coordinator.
